Audi Allroad for your time.
I decided to give Star Trek V a second chance, so I started watching it last night. Nope. Just, nope.
Never again.
I need a cold shower, and maybe a hug.

Bernie Sanders will ban Star Trek V

I’m not hugging you. But I see your pain. Here, let me take your pain. :)

I kind of liked it. Way better than Star Trek Save The Whales IV.

Hey, that was a good one.

I thought which one is that? The one with the whales? I looked it up and it’s not the one with the whales. And, although I must’ve watched it at some point in my life (probably a few times), I read the synopsis and I don’t remember it at all. Now I'm kind of tempted in a trek-ass-ochistic kind of way.

IV is my second favorite of the Kirk Trek movies.

Why? Star Trek V was awful (as you once again figured out). Were you looking to punish yourself or something?

I drove in the snow and paid to see that piece of shit in a theater. 45 minutes of the ship flying through what looks like a bad acid trip.

I liked IV too, it’s pretty polarizing though. That’s why I thought whale trek might be the one you were talking about.

Hey!, that one was for the fans who loved the characters and stayed with them for so many years. It was fun!

Because it’s there.

That movie was great because it was The Return. It set the stage for all Trek to follow. It was the answer to the fervent prayers of all the faithful for so many years during the Dark Times when we only had the animated series and fan fiction to keep us alive. Because of that, I will always be grateful for it.
Also, it developed the characters logically from the time the original series ended and really rounded them out as people (for example, Spock’s epiphany with V’ger after the Kohlinar failure set the stage for his emotional renaissance in the decades that followed). Its downfall was that it got too cerebral and left out the action/adventure part of the formula.
